What is the real problem?
Dr. Michael J. O’Connell, PainCare, New Hampshire, commented that the new economic numbers continue to show improvement in employment and GDP. Wages seem stuck however, which arguably is not such a good thing in that there is less stimulation of commerce when wages do not tick up along with employment. The explanation of this rationale is beyond me. Seems wage increase would lead to inflation, which is not a great thing.
What is not beyond me to understand is the singular lack of advancement among the black sector in this country. Blacks lag well behind any other identifiable race or sector of the population. Why?
Well intentioned Liberals suggest it is due to racism. They have been hammering this concept for decades, due apparently to a conscious decision of the white race to discriminate and keep blacks down. Ergo, the need for “social programs” to lend a helping hand to the black community in need. A noble gesture. Unfortunately, such programs (welfare, community action, equal opportunity, etc.) have had no measurable impact on the success and status of the black race in the US.
I would suggest that the black community does not require help, and attempts to do so, is the main reason they are not succeeding. Blacks have been shown to be just as intelligent as any other race or sector. IQs are equivalent to that of Caucasians, from newborn through elementary school, demonstrating to me that innate intelligence, the stuff we are all born with, is alive and well in all peoples. Then somewhere around adolescence, something happens to black youth, especially male black youth. These kids lose interest in the things in which more successful kids maintain enthusiasm, leaving black youth to pursue such damaging endeavors as dropping out of school, eschewing formal education in general, and taking up some bad habits, all at a higher rate than other races (drug use and distribution, gang activity, establishment rebellion, violence, criminal activity, etc.). I would further suggest that this is due to a reluctance of the black community in general to accept the fact that to succeed, they need to embrace the world they live in. Once they do this, my prediction is that blacks will be every bit as successful, and in many areas MORE successful than white, Asian, or Hispanic populations. Unlike Italians, Jews, Irish, Vietnamese, Mexicans and practically all other minority immigrants to this country who have decided through the decades to beat the majority at their own game, blacks have decided to cling to their blackness, they have become the real racists that whites are accused of being by the Liberal intelligentsia.
What happened to the ‘melting pot’ concept in America, in which all races and sectors of society more or less blend into the mix? This emphasis on “multiculturalism” may be attractive to white Liberals who want to experience authentic enclaves of other countries and cultures in our midst, but this notion only fosters separateness (as opposed to diversity), and freezes out our black community. It is not race holding back our black population, it is culture. The culture needs to change.
